The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the most iconic and successful teams in NHL history. Founded in 1917, the Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups, more than any other team in the league. They have also produced some of the greatest players in the game, including Babe Pratt, Syl Apps, Tim Horton, and Darryl Sittler. The Leafs are also known for their passionate fan base, which fills the stands of Scotiabank Arena night after night.

Early Years

The Toronto Maple Leafs were founded in 1917 as the Toronto Arenas. The team was originally part of the National Hockey Association (NHA),and they won their first Stanley Cup in 1918. In 1926, the NHA merged with the Western Canada Hockey League to form the NHL. The Leafs were one of the original six teams in the NHL, and they quickly became one of the league's most successful teams.

The 2000s and 2010s

The Leafs began to rebuild their team in the 2000s, and they made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2002. However, they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in that series. The Leafs continued to improve in the 2010s, and they made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019. However, they lost to the Boston Bruins in that series.

The Future

The Leafs are hoping to build on their success in the 2020s. They have a young and talented team, led by Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. The Leafs also have a new coach in Sheldon Keefe, who is considered one of the best young coaches in the NHL.
